Undergraduate Research Program

We are seeking talented students interested in joining our Undergraduate Research Team (URT) in theoretical astrophysics and general relativity. The research will focus on forefront problems requiring supercomputer calculations and visualization for solution. Topics of current interest include formation and collisions of black holes, X-ray emission from black holes and neutron stars, gravitational wave generation, relativistic hydrodynamics and radiation transport, coalescence of black hole and neutron star binaries, and dynamical evolution of relativistic star clusters. Students will work collaboratively in a team closely supervised by Professors Frederick Lamb and Stuart Shapiro. It is expected that the research will continue into the following academic year and beyond.
